     THE VORACIOUS READER EATER
® Concert is one hour long. The concert consists of music, magic, puppets and storytelling and is performed by two costumed entertainers in either Vaudeville, Jester, Clown or Scarecrow clothing. We bring our state-of-the-art sound system and are able to set up indoors or out (we have our own electrical generator on board for outdoor events).

The concert theme asks the question "WHY" we need to read - Vinnie, the Voracious Reader Eater is introduced with his Dreamometer - as the program develops and reasons are provided through magic and skits, Vinnie fills the Dreamometer with these reasons.

PIPS (Parent Involvement Packages) are provided on the back side of a coloring picture of Vinnie for children to take home - The PIPS offer ideas for parents on how they might further help their child explore reasons for reading. Once we know "why" reading is important than we are more easily motivated to read! This program is age appropriate even for Pre-Schoolers as it approaches their learning their A,B,C's as building blocks for reading - and we also have had great success in offering it in schools through 5th grade.

There is lots of audience participation - and when time allows we prefer to run for 75 minutes instead of an hour. We have never had a problem keeping attention that long, even with the young ones. In developing our program we realized that the constant variety jump from magic, song, puppets and stories was the key to keeping the attention of the audience - so we jump a lot! This additional time allows us to bring out Big Vinnie - our 6 ft. friendly, cuddly, huggable dragon to meet the kids. Great photo opportunities!

We offer, at no additional charge, your own picture gallery page for one month following a concert.. On this page are pictures taken at the concert - we find families are excited to go back over and over and relive the fun! www.careyann.com

I believe this should provide you a good picture of what we have to offer. One final note, we also offer beautifully detailed face and arm painting as an option before or after a concert, if that were to fit with your program for the day. We have available one or two artists that are each capable of painting one child every two minutes (this information helps to determine the length of time it would take to paint your audience).

Comments from our friends...

Dear Carey Ann, I would like to thank you so much for the wonderful birthday surprise for Tamia. It was much better than going to chuckie cheese or jungle java. It was great to have you come to her school. The best part about that was I didn't have to worry about hurting anyone's feeling by not inviting them to an outside party or the clean up. Tamia's teacher said everyone was pretending like they were Carey Ann the clown and painting faces. Again, thank you and I will recommend a birthday party at a school with you anytime.

"My 3 year old son, Jeremy, was at the "Safety Concert" at Southshore Hospital today.  Jeremy loved it as we all did.  This evening he told me, "Back off, Stranger", so I guess he was really listening to what you both were saying, which makes me feel really good. " Georgia W.
